remanence: botany bay

2026

Remanence: Botany Bay is the first realised site study within the series.

Developed through an extended engagement with the coastline, the work draws on materials gathered directly from the site; chalk, basalt stone, tamarix, bladderwrack seaweed, sweet violets and red valerian.

Created on location using seawater collected from the shoreline, the works carry the salinity, atmosphere and movement of the landscape within both pigment and process.

The landscape is present not only in material, but in the act of making.

The resulting compositions evoke shifting strata, erosion patterns and tidal movement; held between control and chance.
